President’s Special Achievement Awards

Future Leadership Award – Justin Davis, SSA

Justin is responsible for a variety of financial management projects at SSA. He effectively communicates with staff, demonstrates his expertise in his projects, and solves problems when needed. His leaderships skills are evident based on his high level performance at the Agency. Justin has also played an integral role in mentoring a new employee at SSA. He provides guidance, career advice, motivation, and a positive attitude while sharing his professional knowledge with everyone.

Excellence in Contribution – Kelly Stankus, SSA/OIG

Kelly is awarded the Excellence in Contribution award for her leadership and dedication in service to AGA Baltimore Chapter by coordinating the Job Shadowing Day at SSA for Southside Academy students. Kelly went above and beyond the call of duty on this event. She performed this service along with a full schedule of responsibilities as an auditor producing key reports for the SSA OIG organization.

Outstanding Service as Early Careers Director: – Rashad Holloway, EPA

In recognition of Rashad’s professional efforts to coordinate a successful Career Day at Baltimore’s Southside Academy. In addition to coordinating this event, Rashad has been very active in coordinating several other events throughout the year to ignite interest in others about the AGA and service to the government. His dedication to and enthusiasm about AGA Baltimore and the community are evident to all of us here in the AGA Baltimore Chapter. For these efforts, Rashad was also awarded our PDC Scholarship to Orlando, FL. We are grateful for his service.

Government Service Award – Steve Schaeffer, SSA/OIG

Steve, in his position as the Assistant Inspector General for the Office of Audit at the Social Security Administration is responsible for overseeing management and staff who conduct and/or supervise comprehensive financial and performance audits of SSA's programs and operations and making recommendations to ensure that program objectives and operational functions are achieved effectively and efficiently.

For the last five years, the Office of Audit has achieved a 5-year average implementation rate of more than 85% for accepted recommendations aimed at improving the integrity, efficiency and effectiveness of SSA and maintained an annual acceptance rate of at least 88 % for all recommendations, exceeding both performance measures. In addition, Steve has implemented policies and procedures to deliver audit products more timely. This past year, FY 2009, a total of 92 percent of audit reports were issued within 1 year of their respective entrance conferences. While leading the Office of Audit, the return on dollars invested in SSA OIG OA was approximately $270 to $1 in FY 2009. Additionally, Mr. Schaeffer led OIG Office of Audit’s effort to complete the FY 2009 financial statement audit in-house for the first time in over 10 years.



Chapter Service Awards

Christina Lilly for her willingness to issue a summer newsletter (July/August) this year, as well as acting as chapter historian and dedication to the newsletter team.

Kristina Poist for her dedication to the newsletter team and issuing the newsletter survey.

Evangeline Labador for heading up the community service project “Holiday cards and candy canes for the soldiers in Afghanistan ” in addition to her duties on the CGFM committee this year.

Elaine Wallace for coordinating name badges for our monthly training meetings.

Meetings Committee Members (Letha Holliday, Keith Lewis, Michele Murrill, Brenda Ramos-Jones and Matthew Bilenki) for sustained dedication to making our meetings a success.

John Selby for sustained outstanding service in financial management oversight and practices as chapter treasurer.

Florence Wolford for dedication to writing outstanding articles on training topics each month for the chapter newsletter.

Web Team Members (Garima Khanna, Katie Beach and Briana Yoho) for revamping the chapter website and providing outstanding and dedicated service to the chapter.

Rashad Holloway for coordinating the Career Day at Southside Academy, which was an overwhelming success.

Kelly Stankus for coordinating an outstanding SSA Job Shadowing Day for the Students at Southside Academy.

Darlene Candle for her dedication to providing audio visual support to speakers at the monthly training luncheons.

Dellareese Morton-Smith for issuing a chapter membership survey and performing activities to support a commendable chapter growth in 2009/2010.

Jared Martin for excellent support of President Kinsey’s Kudos Awards.

CGFM Team (Evangeline Labador, Christopher Jankiewicz and Gary Hatcher) for putting on three CGFM certification classes (6 days of classes and for issuing a CGFM survey).
